It was suggested to me to put an FNG badge in my signature.
I did so for a long time.

I have now removed it because I Googled its' meaning.
Which is:

FNG
word of the day: September 30, 2008
Military term, '****ing New Guy' usually someone just out of training or just transfered into the unit/AO, who either hasn't proved his worth or doesn't know how to operate properly due to lack of experiance.

I am not amused by the jackasses who played this trick on me.

It wasn't funny, just nasty.
And it reflects on the mental maturity of those responsible. :(

It is indeed a tradition. The FNG you quoted, is where the name started, but it is now just the name of the badge. If you found that offensive, that is a shame, but you calling me and the others jackasses is insulting. You could have asked me, and I'd have told you the same. If you want to think this way fine, but you are sorely mistaken. 100's of members have proudly worn the FNG badge at 7F when they became Gold Members. You have made a mistake. If you think I'd play a nasty trick on you, or anyone, then you just don't know me!

:ditto: Bill, I agree with your comments, I wore it with pride over at 7 when I reached my Gold status and that the meaning for wearing it was Fine New Goldmember.

As Bill said the origin of the letters was before even 7 was started, but when people reached Gold standard at the forum the badge was created and named Fine New Goldmember, I've only ever known the letters stand for that and certainly don't appreciate being called a jackass.
