Hello guys,

I'm a huge fan of the Silent Hill games and since i recently started playing on the PC i bought all available Silent Hill Games for PC
Every game runs great, exept Silent Hill 4: The Room.
I can install the game from the disk but when I try to open it it says Failed To Initialize DirectX...
I have the latest version of DirectX and I use Windows 8.1
Does someone know how i can fix this i really want to play the game so badly:cry:

I've been trying to figure out how to deal with a similar problem with this game. Try disabling your audio device (right click volume control, select playback devices, and right click/disable your audio device--you can undo this afterwards by enabling it). Does the game work after, just without sound? I believe the issue may be related to the older, now unsupported DirectSound configuration that is used in this game. Unfortunately I have not found a solution, if this is the problem you're having as well.

I have tried disabling my playback device but still i get the "failed to initialize DirectX" error... The game needs DirectX 8.1 or 9.0, but since i have Windows 8.1, i only have 9.0c, 10.0 and 11.0... i touhgt the older DirectX versions were supported by the newer versions but the game just doesnt start. After the installation, if i start the game the screen turns black for 4 seconds and then i get the error. After i try it again it says "a crash occured the last time the game was played, using safe graphic options", if i press ok the "failed to initialize DirectX" appears but the game never starts

Silent Hill 4 The Room doesnt support WideScreen, so your having "Failed To Initialize Directx" Error.... You need to patch it with wide screen fix for the game in order it to work.... :)
