How to Create a Facebook App Shortcut in Windows 8.1

The Facebook app for Windows 8.1 is now available to download in the Windows Store. With Facebook for Windows 8.1, you get direct access to your Facebook News Feed right from your Start screen where you can stay connected with your friends and family.
Facebook for Windows 8.1 will feel familiar because it uses the same layout and visual look and feel you see on Facebook.com - making it super easy to use. You will see new friend requests, messages, and notifications at your top right. Your News Feed is there as you would expect it to be. You can compose a new post, add photos or check in. You can switch between your different feeds (e.g. Group, Photos, Following, Family, etc.) so you see all the news and updates you want to see.
This tutorial will show you how to create or download a "Facebook" modern app shortcut that you can use or pin where you like in Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1.

EXAMPLE: Facebook app

OPTION ONE
To Download a "Facebook" App Shortcut for Windows 8.1
2. Click/tap on the Download button below to download the ZIP file below.
Facebook_Shortcut.zip
3. Save the .zip file to your desktop.
4. Open the .zip file, and extract (drag and drop) the Facebook shortcut to your desktop.
6. Go to step 5 in OPTION TWO below to download and use a custom icon for this shortcut.
7. If you like, you can Pin to Taskbar on desktop, Pin to Start screen, add to Quick Launch, assign a keyboard shortcut to it, or move this shortcut to where you like for easy use.
8. When finished, you can delete the downloaded .zip file on the desktop if you like, or save it to use again.
OPTION TWO
To Manually Create a "Facebook" App Shortcut in Windows 8.1
2. Right click or press and hold on an empty area of your desktop, and click/tap on New and Shortcut.
3. Copy and paste either command below into the location area, and click/tap on the Next button. (see screenshot below)

%windir%\System32\cmd.exe /c start "" "message-facebook-com:" && exit
4. Type Facebook for the name, and click/tap on the Finish button. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: You can name this shortcut anything you would like though.
5. Click/tap on the Download button below to download a custom Facebook.ico file to use for this shortcut. Unblock the .ico file, then move it to where you would like to keep it saved at.
6. Right click or press and hold on the new Facebook shortcut, and click/tap on Properties.
7. Click/tap on the Shortcut tab, then click/tap on the Change Icon button. (see screenshot below)
8. Click/tap on the Browse button, navigate to and select the Facebook.ico file from step 5, and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot above)
NOTE: You can use any icon that you would like instead though.
9. Click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below step 7)
10. If you like, you can Pin to Taskbar on desktop, Pin to Start screen, add to Quick Launch, assign a keyboard shortcut to it, or move this shortcut to where you like for easy use.
