So my laptop and desktop have very similar setups, they both have few (exact same) registry adjustments, utilise SRP, but the laptop has the less exocit setup, far less software installed, so this problem is just weird.
What is happening after a period of uptime lets say a week or more but I dont know actual lengths then all explorer.exe processes seem to get unresponsive. Other applications seem to stay stable. e.g. web browsers.
So
'save as' windows wont work, they just hang.
the taskbar hangs, including the clock getting stuck when the problem starts.
ctrl-alt-del screen doesnt load, I eventually after a minute or so of a black screen get a prompt telling me the screen is unable to load but doesnt say the reason why,.
What I consider I need to do to pin down the cause is install some kind of monitoring software that monitors every process on the system and logs to disk things like gdi resource usage, memory usage, etc. So I can see the data of all system processes, all 3rd party processes, drivers etc. and if anything freaky happens prior to the hang events.
Suggestions I am not interested in as they generic suggestions.
sfc scanning
reinstalling windows
update drivers
Its almost certianly a resource leak somewhere which is why I want to monitor.
So suggestions I am interested in are.
A way to monitor this stuff logged to disk.
If anyone else has had this same exact problem and discovered a fix that wasnt sfc or reinstalling windows.
Thanks
