Hello,

Some weird problem has ocurred lately. When I search in the Charms bar for "Add Features" and then click on the concerning option that comes up (Add features to Windows 8.1), an "unspecified error" comes up showing a path to the Appdata directory. This problem happened after I added Windows Media Center which was added without any problem. Also, there's a white bank paper icon next to that option in the Charms bar.

I'm running Windows 8.1 x64 Pro with WMC

I don't believe search looks at all the control panel items. I just tried it with add features and a couple of others and it looks like it only finds the things that are in the control panel and the modern settings app.

So are you getting the same error when clicking on the "Add features to Windows 8.1" option that comes up in the Charms bar?

Just the blank sheet of paper icon.

and in the search app

This is weird. So it doesn't seem to be a fault at my end. What could be causing this though?
Also, do you have Windows Media Center? If so, how did you activate that?

No I don't have it. I use Kodi. Most control panel things do not show up in search, I guess search only finds the same things on Apps screen, so you would need to type con/control panel then choose what you want.

Even more weird.. I can't seem to find the Add Features option in the Control Panel either. It was there before I activated Windows Media Center. There's now only the option to enable or disable features (such as .NET Framework etc.)

Path
Code:
C:\Windows\System32\WindowsAnytimeUpgradeui.exe
For path to see it it's still on you system show hidden files

Command line
Code:
 "C:\Windows\System32\WindowsAnytimeUpgradeui.exe"
You can try using an admin command prompt-just copy and paste.

It can't find the exe file. I can't find it either when I go to the dir path myself.

Maybe anyone with Windows 8.1 Pro and WMC can check this?
