So today I checked Device Manager and found that my NVIDIA 820M has been stopped due to error 34. I checked my Windows Update and saw an update—I thought this might be the cause of the error. Prior to rebooting my laptop to install I made a system restore point.
After I rebooted I got a BSOD that says SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. Automatic Repair failed, so I accepted the prompt to system restore. The Windows logo appeared and it's been 30 minutes but nothing happens. I hard reset and rebooted, came back to the screen, and used the system restore.
It worked, and now I'm back to square one. How can I resolve the error 34 without BSODing again?
