Solved dual boot windows vista on a pre-installed windows 8.1

when I installed windows 7 on E partition and booted to it it saied directly " Updating registry settings " when it restarted it said " Starting windows " and it got stuck

it the end I have formatted the E partition I will try to install a normal windows 7 ISO

i will install windows vista 32 bit do I need to switch OS mode to CSM and UEFI mode?
Why would you install Vista 32 bit? Install Windows 7 x64, using the way I described in my last post. To summarise it, you need to do the following:

-Insert your Windows DVD into the drive
-Reboot your laptop from Windows 8.1
-Boot into the UEFI firmware settings
-Enable "Legacy Option Rom" or "Compatibility Support Mode / CSM".
-Save and exit setup and reboot your PC, booting the Windows 7 DVD
-Install windows to "partition e"
-When you get to the initial WIndows desktop, install your drivers for your computer, then do a reboot and go back into the setup and disable Legacy oprom/CSM

That is about as clear as I can make it. I have solved this issue on my machine and replicated it with 3 different install methods. Try giving it a go. If need be I would be happy to help out over Teamviewer (you would need a different PC to use Teamviewer video chat while we work on the one you are trying to dual boot)

i don't have a DVD I only use ISOs

I will let you know what happens when I install vista 64bit ( I know its 64bit )

okay then when I installed win vista 64bit I booted it goes black I tried to change OS mode to CSM and UEFI and it showed BSOD screen saying

***: Stop : 000x000000e (00000000. . . .) ***

Did you change to CSM before or after you installed? I would say you have to do it before you do anything. If you don't have DVDs, then just boot from a USB, its the same thing.

We do not offer product keys on these forums and only advocate using legitimate licenses for software. Thats about all I have to say on that.;)

I don't even have USB

if I turned to CSM Mode it will shutdown and restart in order to fully enable CSM mode
and then it will say " all boot option are tried . press <F4> to boot to recovery "

BUT wait !!! did you see that shiny thing?

yeah its Windows XP Professional SP3 PRE-activated and tested !!!!!!

when I install windows vista using winNT it says after Reboot the sysprep phase will begin

what does that mean

That just means the OOBE phase, where you set your username and password, Windows update settings etc before you boot to the desktop for the first time.

Don't know what XP has to do with this but if you try to install XP it definitely won't work as XP doesn't support UEFI systems at all.
When you change to CSM mode is UEFI still enabled with it?

okay don't care about XP . . . but when I select vista in boot menu it goes black and the fan is running too much and the storage light wont flash

okay its all done I have dual booted windows 7 and windows 8.1 and it booted up to desktop but the wireless adapter cant connect to internet what do I do

Woo-hoo!!! Glad you finally got it working! :)

For the wireless adapter, you need to download the appropriate drivers. You need to actually download the drivers for your laptop itself, the chipset and stuff as well. Could you post the exact model number of your laptop and I can help you get the drivers? Also, if you could right click the start button, select device manager, and expand all of the devices, take a screenshot like the one I have attached, and post it, that would be great. I had to do it in 3 parts because there are so many devices associated with my computer, you likely will as well.

You will need to be booted into Windows 8.1 in order to capture the device manager, since that is the OS where drivers are currently installed.

Hey enus - here is the repository I have created for you with drivers for your laptop with Windows 7. Most are Samsung certified drivers for Windows 7 from the Samsung website, and some are directly from the Intel website. If you install all of these under Windows 7 you should be up and running. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?res...50&authkey=!ANbemR7LyD5TuQ8&ithint=folder,ZIP

After that, be sure to install a free antivirus such as Microsoft Security Essentials or Bitdefender Free Edition. Then do all of your Windows updates and install any other software you want and that should be it :) Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.
