Do you want Aero?

Windows 7 Ultimate desktop (32-bit)....

And the same shot in the Win 8 RTM.

No comparison, really. I want my transparency back.....

    Borderline pathetic.
Oops! You also need transparency. I should have mention that you don't get that. Sorry for that.

But in general, it works: you get the window borders back.
The transparency is hidden somewhere else, Aero just runs what it has to run.

We all know that ''Aero'' became the term for transparency effects. Therefore, do not make fools of each other!

And as for the modder, it's old news and, as it seems, it's a fake.

Windows 8 IS NOT Windows 7.
I can live without Start Menu, all I want is transparency and that I don't have to pay to Stardock or whoever for it.

As for me, I would be happy if everything was left like this:

Try this:

CustomXP - Télécharger : Logiciels

The site is in French but just click the "Telecharger" button to download True Transparency. Not the cleanest since it's not W8 specific but it does make the borders transparent. Right click the system tray icon to select different skins. I'm not into the transparent border stuff but was curious if it actually worked.

On a random tangent, I was thinking one time on how absolutely cool it would look to expand transparency to the point where a lot of the UI and windows are transparent, but still able to view the items within the window. And to detail it all off, include in true metro iconography, like Windows Phone metro style. Have the Segoe font dominate and large throughout. The windows will have a one pixel color outline, along with some non-transparent UI items. The iconography and some UI elements will be able to change colors to what the user wants. A neat mesh of Aero transparency (Windows 8 style transpancy) and metro form.

:thumb: Aero could be balanced with the new desktop UI renovations easily, but on a tablet it would almost be slow, (Windows RT). Windows 8 should be plenty different than Windows RT, and give you quite a few more options.

I had somebody stop by today and they were looking over my shoulder while I worked on a server 2012 box and they suggested that I load a video driver to try to make my colors and such look a lot better.

I thought it was funny. I told them this was the way it looked, and that Windows 8 was going to look the same way. They honestly didn't believe me.

As I do, they thought it looked like crap. Yes, welcome to the future.

Everyone, Windows 8 is Windows 7 with a new name and look. Plus some add-ons. You can't sit there and tell me that you'd use vista over 8, (like I've heard several say)

Yes I can.

well I guess thats my opinion then! :p
After seeing them cut Aero, I would too. Vista has enough software compatibility and stability that the new features in 8 aren't that great. I'm more worried about the eye candy that I'll be seeing a lot rather than a few seconds on boot, etc., which I won't.

The eye-candy isn't one of my biggest issues. I thought aero looked rather cheesy with the rounded corners and authentically "cheap" transparency. I liked the CP's look until the RTM came and killed RP and CP.

It's all in what you prefer. What one person thinks looks "cheesy", another person likes. I think what is really annoying here is that you have no choice to either have it on or off....people like choice and are used to having it with Windows.

I personally never really noticed the rounded corners before..so they never stood out to me. As far as tranparency goes, I never liked it and always shut it off. But I do like the gradients and shading in my title bar area of windows and i just find that that the super blocky, consistent color nature of Windows 8/Srv2012 is just too stark, in my face and not appealing to me.

I know you cannot make everybody happy, but having a choice as to whether you wanted to continue to use what they sold us on during the past 2 versions of Windows doesn't seem too much to ask or expect.

To me, it seems like MS is becoming more Apple like in their nature and saying, "It's the way it is, you have a choice of 1 or 1".

Doesn't make sense to me. They had Aero in the CP then removed it in RTM. As was said earlier, why not just leave it in and let user's turn it on and off? What's next, CGA mode?

Not on my systems.

Next is OS X - what you get, this is it. No tweaks, no adjustments.
Eventually, you might change desktop background and some icons.

They must. But MS does want to "move forward" with these "tablets". Maybe RT should stay with tablets, while 8 should have aero and other PC and laptop options.
