DISM works, but SFC /scannow still reports corruption

Windows update has stopped installing updates, of course - then ran sfc /scannow and found corruption.

I used DISM command to repair:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

DISM reported that corruption has been fixed.

Then ran sfc /scannow multiple times and still have corruption.

Windows 8.1 on a Surface Pro. It boots properly and runs normally, I just can't do certain windows updates (the critical ones, of course).

Any thoughts?

Thank you -

I had exactly the same problem, sorted it by uninstalling these 2 updates and hiding them:
KB3035583 and KB3068708,there are many problems from many people if you google these 2 updates.

Regards

Thank you for the help. I successfully uninstalled KB3035583 and tried to uninstall KB3068708 in the Control Panel and received the following error: "An Error Has Occurred. Not All of the Updates Have Been Successfully Uninstalled."

I then used the sfcfix.exe tool that was mentioned to fix KB3068708 that was listed in another thread on this site. Rebooted and tried sfc /scannow and still have the corruption message.

I wonder if I should try to manually remove KB3068708? Any other thoughts?

Thank you!

Sometimes sfc /scannow needs to be run 3 or 4 times to fix corrupt files and restarting after each run.
How did you uninstall the first update?

Search your sfc log & see if you find these 2 errors---
They can be ignored.

Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"utc.app.json"

Cannot repair member file [l:66{33}]"telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json"

These two don't appear in the CBS.log:

Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"utc.app.json"

Cannot repair member file [l:66{33}]"telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json"

But I have LOTS of unrepairable member files... lots.

I was able to eventually get both
KB3035583 and KB3068708 removed - I used the uninstall option through Control Panel, View Windows Updates

I am trying sfc /scannow a few times. I am on my third try/reboot and still get errors. I wonder if I should try to hide
KB3035583 and KB3068708 and try to load the remaining updates and see if that works?

DISM gives me a clear bill of health - this is unreal!

Thanks for any other suggestions you might have.

Try uninstalling kb3022345. That is the one that was causing mine to error. MS has released at least three updates that have jacked up sfc /scannow. It is a false error but makes it so one can't use the tool until MS decides to fix it, unless the offending update(s) gets uninstalled.

kb3022345 wasn't installed (but I checked - thank you for that) and trying resetting windows 8.1 update components. No dice... DISM still clears, but sfc doesn't work and updates are now backing up. Current updates that can't load just came in the last few days. Includes a cumulative security update.

Am i destined to do a Refresh? It seems ridiculous that all the rest of the diagnostic tools show good (except for sfc /scannow) and it runs fine, except for not allowing updates to run.

Maybe that's good that I can't update anything from Microsoft. Maybe its a blessing in disguise.....

Don`t know what else to suggest, but windows really messed up their update system in windows 8/8.1,and still do not seem to have fixed the many different issues that customers are having.Maybe using a free imaging software, if you are not already [once you have the problem sorted],then you can restore to a recent working image.I use Macrium Reflect which has never let me down yet,but there are others to try also.

Regards

It really looks like they did a good job screwing it up. Well, thanks for your help on this. I will try repairing and saving an image as you suggested.
