After installing the latest round of important Windows Updates, running DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth no longer works. Rather, It returns Error 800f081f and the following message:

The source files could not be found.
Use the “source” option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source. The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

I have run System Restore and, after doing so, the DISM instruction runs properly and returns the message that it has run successfully and repaired the corrupted components. However, running Windows Update again followed by running DISM reproduces the problem reported above.

Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. I should add that I do not have an original Microsoft Windows 8 DVD as my version of Windows 8 Pro (64bit) - now updated to Windows 8.1 Pro - is Dell's OEM version.

I tried the suggestions from the thread "DISM Source files could not be found when trying to restore" (Last post 10 Feb 2016) with the following unsuccessful results:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version 6.3.9600.17031

Image Version 6.3.9600.17031

-100%-

Error: 6800

The function attempted to use a name that is reserved for use by another transaction.

sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan
Verification 100% complete

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Error: 800f081f

The source files could not be found.....

I found a suggestion to run the following for Error: 0x800f0906 from an Admin command prompt.

net stop wuauserv
cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
ren Download Download.old
net start wuauserv
net stop bits
net start bits
net stop cryptsvccd
%systemroot%\system32
ren catroot2 catroot2old
net start cryptsvc

I ran it and then ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, which completed successfully.
I also ran sfc /scannow which reported that it did not find any integrity violations.
