Hi Jerry,

I have tested your "The BB_Line_Hightlights" (Highlights) theme only after I prepared and uploaded the picture with the screenshots, so if for you it is easier/quicker to just change the highlight to the red rectangular outline, do that.

If for you it's less work to do the blue highlight (with the white contrasting font), do that.

Bottom line, do whatever is easier/faster for you.

Thanks again :)

I was not able to get the white text that text is one color for all states (hot, selected etc.).

I could not do this.

Hey Jerry,

I noticed a problem in the "Thin_RB_Line_Hightlights" theme.

When I try to rename a file/folder, the name is masked by a blue solid stripe and the renaming operation becomes very difficult.

The same happens in every line/menu/dialog/path that I select in any program on the same computer... This makes your nice theme quite hard to use (sorry).

Hopefully the animated screenshot below properly illustrates what happens.

Thanks :)

That was my mistake when I was trying to get that white text for you ended up changing that highlighted text sorry here is a replacement .msstyles that you can replace in the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Thin_RB_Line_Hightlights folder.

You're welcome

I use Ave's Windows7 Style Builder it is for Windows 7 but after it is purchased you can join their forum using your email and the key code they send you and then you can download a beta that works on Windows 8/8.1.

Hi Jerry, if you're still around. I know this post is 7 years old. I came here when I did a search for "Turn off annoying highlight following folders in Windows 10". I tried your themes in Windows 10, following the instructions to copy them into C:\Windows\Resources\Themes, but they didn't work. I did see Windows Explorer refreshed, the screen flickered, and my desktop background returned to the Windows default, but alas, no transparent highlight or red and blue thin lines.

The Style Builder website still exists but doesn't seem to have been updated since 2009. I don't see a Windows 10 version.

I tried changing MouseHoverHeight and MouseHoverWidth to zero in HKEY_CURRENT_USER - Control Panel - Mouse and rebooting, as was suggested on another website, and that didn't work, either.

In Xplorer2, you can click on Tools - Advanced Options - Global - select "Disable some Vista effects, e.g. highlight of item under cursor". This has the effect of your transparent theme. I'm trying to find another way because it's a company laptop.

Do you know of any way to change the highlight to transparent, or thin red and blue, in Windows 10, besides purchasing Xplorer2?

Thank you.
