Developing for Windows Home Server “Vail”

If you’re a developer that is familiar with Windows Home Server v1 SDK, or someone who wants to develop Vail, this blog post may be of some interest to you!

It has now been over a week since we released the beta builds of “Vail”, the next version of Windows Home Server, and are very encouraged by the amount of downloads and feedback that we have seen so far. We now thought that it would be a great time to start discussing some of the new features that you will see in Vail. As many of us know, Windows Home Server is a platform that can be extended with fun and useful add-ins – and better yet, the extensibility will be even greater in “Vail”. Be sure to check out the new comprehensive SDK for developing add-ins which is available to download from Connect.

You can check out the full blog from the Engineering team, which will give you more detail on Dashboard SDK and gives an overview of what is new with the Vail Dashboard along with its extensibility. Over the next few weeks, our Engineering team will begin posting a series of blogs back on TechNet in order to help developers ramp up on the Vail SDK. I will be sure to keep you updated with the Engineering blog summaries here.

Thank you for everyone that is participating in the beta program!
