See the pic. Tried doing sfc /scannow in elevated Cmd and nothing untoward found.
Have no restore points to use either.

Thanks Shawn. No nothing untoward there either. All I did lately was remove a fix I found (elsewhere I hate to admit) to force Windows to boot straight to the desktop rather than Metro Start.
It also involved entering something in GPedit and then Task Scheduler. I simply undid that. Shouldn't have had an effect on this.
I may have to reinstall anyway as I'm having major problems with Bluetooth now that I've added Win 8 to the equation.
Win 8 is not friendly towards people who need to do basic things manually. I think I might have to ditch it as it's completely screwed up my Bluetooth as I said....simply because it wont allow you to override password protection for keyboards, so now I have to use my wired KB and Mouse every time I reboot to any of my systems...once booted and logged in then and only then do they work. Used to be I could use them right from the logon screen. Hitherto the only time I used the wired ones was in the BIOS or Safe Mode.
I only installed it at the behest of the McAfee Beta people to test their product. (It works). So now it's going the way of the Dodo as far as I'm concerned. It needs a lot of work and, judging from Microsoft's own forums, is NOT too popular. I saw one poster with a very balanced and valid argument. He has 7000 workstations of which only 2 are touch-screen. The forced use of Metro means utter confusion if implemented to all his people. There should be an option to turn off Metro UI altogether. I don't give a damn what the neo-purists have to say about it. Not all change is for the better.

Formatted, so now I have no choice. I might wait for the next build to see if they have relented on their position regarding Metro or bust...or whatever we call it.
