Hello all!

I just installed the RP and loving it. The only issue I have is that I cannot set my default printer! The option isnt even available when you right click the printer. I know from experience, if you are logged in as a temp profile, you cannot perform any actions such as this. I think I might BE logging in with a temp profile, but under users it shows my name, and administrator so Im confused. Any ideas??

Where are you right clicking? You have tried Control Panel - Devices and printers?

I've had that happen to me. My WIFI connected HP LaserJet P1102w showed up in devices and printers but I couldn't set it as default. You'll likely find you can't print a test page either. After a lot of head scratching I figured out that Windows 8 new what the printer was but didn't install any driver for it. Once I ran the HP supplied software, another Icon showed up for the same printer that worked, and it could be set as default. I then deleted the original that didn't work.

I only mentioned my experience because there was nothing obvious to tell me my printer was non functional. You may have another problem so I'll just wait to see what you post back.

Update: Thanks for the advice Alpha, it worked like a charm. Only I ran into another problem in the process. The same drivers I used on the CP did NOT work with the RP. I had to download the driver uninstall from Brothers site and the VISTA compatible drivers. In case anyone else runs into this headache, I have a Brother MFC-490cw multi function.
Problem is now completely solved :D
