I've been seeing the following DCOM errors in my system log since day one:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{7160A13D-73DA-4CEA-95B9-37356478588A}
and APPID
{7160A13D-73DA-4CEA-95B9-37356478588A}
to the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

The server {DDCFD26B-FEED-44CD-B71D-79487D2E5E5A} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

I looked around but couldn't find anything satisfactory. Does anyone know how this issue can be fixed?

Win 8 pro, 64 bit on Lenovo T430s

Thanks.

Have you installed any other software besides Windows? These are usually related to a poor configuration by third party app installations. If all your software is working, they may simply be things related to a specific application that you cannot solve (they need to be fixed by the application author)

just some regular stuff, some dev tools, office etc ... does this error happen even if you don't use the 'rogue' application or only during regular use?

Here, read this, it has a solution maybe:

http://www.eightforums.com/performa...s-event-id-10016-errors-win-8-pro-64-bit.html

I need to ask - Has your system locked up or shut down when this has happened? Because I think this is related to why my computer was randomly locking up. I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit and it found a huge invasion immediately, it removed it and so far my system has not locked up again.
