Custom registry setting works then reverts to default.

Hi all. I followed the below-linked tutorial from Ten Forums to change a registry key to customize the hover time before the window focus changes on my Win8.1 Toshiba laptop. The new interval takes effect after rebooting, and it worked for several weeks, until it just now reverted for no reason (no restorations or anything similar).

Any idea why the registry would randomly reset this key? and any way to prevent this and lock the setting in?
