Even though the tutorial on this forum says there should be a custom option, I don't seem to have it.

Any thoughts on how can I bring it back?

P.S. Does anyone know what that "winrt--{***}-" folder is?

Not just you. I get the same (well similar).
Well, that sucks. It was a pretty useful feature in windows 7.

Where did you see it? "Custom" is not in the screen prints in this tutorial http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4595-search-windows-8-a.html for example.
Option two, No. 3, "Tip" section: "Custom to search specific locations."

I looked in registry - the xxx in "winrt--{xxx}" seems to be related to the modern apps - Finance, weather etc.
Thank you. I thought it was a remnant of a user I deleted a while ago
