David,
That's a lot of results!

-> right-click on one of those grabbers -> open file location. :)

Don't forget the ones I've mentioned cannot be searched as "*.cur" if they are embedded as PE resource.

Cheers!

Just wanted to say Thanks again, its been over 4 months using this oversized Red Cursor, and its great, love how easy it is to spot over 6 screens running on two systems.
Thanks so Much !

Thank you John. :)

Enjoy using those Red cursors.

By the way, I thought I share this, might come in handy.

You can set your favorite cursors as default. When you are logged out or at start-up/shutdown, we can notice the default white pointer showing even if we (afterwards) see our own pointers when on the Desktop.

Aero Red (here XL) set as default was a good example to test this:
xl-default.jpg
And it works.

To set the Aero Red (Remastered) cursors as default, I provided registry entries in the zip below.
You can choose between the normal edition, large and extra-large, of course.

:warn: Note: This requires the Remastered Aero Red cursors to be installed before proceeding. :warn:

Aero Red as default -> double-click the needed file:
* setting the normal-sized version as default -> aero-red-normal-default-cursor.reg
* setting the large-sized version as default -> aero-red-large-default-cursor.reg
* setting the extra-large-sized version as default -> aero-red-extra-large-default-cursor.reg
To switch back to system defaults:
*set back (system) aero (normal-sized) as default -> default-aero-cursor.reg

Log out after applying to notice the changes.

Cheers!
Hopachi

Indeed, you're using Microangelo. :thumb:
And of course, 7-Zip, my old-time favourite.

If you open some of the lucky exes and dlls, you'll notice a section/folder called cursors. There you have it.
Those are automatically applied when the program in question runs the required (in our case drag) operation.

You can modify some of those too but using modified system dlls isn't always a good thing. :)

That's all.

Hey guys, thanks for the win 8 spinning cursors! They are awesome! This is the only page I found where people created cursors based on the spinner. This is so much appreciated.

I have one request :) Could I get the white Win 8 Spinner cursors (with black border) in bigger sizes (48x48 for example) because I have a full hd laptop and I need the bigger cursors. I would be soo happy :D

Hello Cursy,

Welcome to EightForums!

Nice to hear you like those pointers. What you need isn't made yet, but don't worry: it's possible.
Are you using higher DPI (http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/28310-dpi-scaling-size-change-displays-windows-8-1-a.html) or just a L or XL-sized cursor?

No matter.
I'm planning a remastered edition (like I did with Aero Red) where all sizes are included, in compliance with the original Windows cursors.

In theory:
- higher DPI settings needs a cursor pointer to be available in 32x32, 48x48 and since Win8 also in 64x64.
- each cursor has, besides higher DPI-layers, a 'normal' 'large' and 'extra-large version'

pointers.png

Since only the white-black-border version is the one you're looking for, I'll begin with it to see how it goes.

I'll post it here when I get some time working on it, in a couple of days.
Stay tuned.

Regards,
Hopachi

Hi Hopachi,

that is awesome!!! :D I think I use both. There is a dpi scaling set on my win8 laptop but I still would love to use the large cursor. I usually change it manually in the mouse settings.

Thank you soo much! Looking forward to it :)

Win8Spinner White (Remastered)

Hi Cursy,

The Win8Spinner White with Black border is ready.

Four (4) ANI cursor files are included in zip attachment, each file has 54 frames x 3 layers = 162 total images!

Contains 32x32, 48x48 and 64x64 layers with each normal, large, and extra-large (N, L, XL) just like the official Win8 cursors. To be used with the Aero cursors of Win8: replace the busy and working states with the new variants (Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointers).

Previews:
wns.gif bn.gif wn.gif wl.gif wxl.gif bxl.gif
Some of the animated GIF's might lack the actual quality due to compression.

Included in zip:
-busy spinner -> can be used for all sizes (matches XL size)*
-working 32x32 N/L/XL
-working 48x48 N/L/XL
-working 64x64 N/L/XL

*smaller sizes lose too much contrast in quality

That's all.

Cheers!
Hopachi

Hi XPclient,

Thanks!

The built-in ones (which ones are that?) the ones provided by Windows... Are already available in extra large.

To be clear: no, I didn't made coloured versions of those yet.

I'm thinking to make the Win7 Aero ones in 64x64 because they also don't exist yet.
Rendered preview:
64preview.gif

In any case, for any cursor you make, the multi-dpi layered versions take (a lot) more time than regular single layer versions.

Hi Sturgess,

You mean the red one? :D

No. Unfortunately I didn't make any red or orange or any other colors of that. I bet they look great!
I made a first version of the white one on Cursy's request because I wanted to see how it goes (a long way to go). And because the white one can be automatically re-colored, to create other color versions faster. The thing is I'm not working daily on those projects so it takes a while.

The red version based on Win7 might get an update to 64x64, after I get the 64x64 layers of the base scheme (see preview previous post).

Then all it needs to be done is something like in this preview of 64x64:
64preview-r.gif
Maybe I didn't got the color exactly like the previous one since it's a fast preview... but looks promising.
However there is still a lot to do until these get finished and I don't have the time to work daily on these. But slow and steady, something gets done in time. :)

Best regards,
Hopachi

Sturgess,

If I apply the mentioned "orange-yellowification" to the standard pointer it will look like this:

wxl-y.gif

Is that good?

Making the main color more orange will look bad with red edges (see below), losing contrast, so from a certain point you'll have to switch the red edge to yellow and then the main color will be dark orange or red (what we already have).

The balance of the color curves:

default-white.png --> orange-red.png or orange-yellow.png

The one animated above gives a yellowy compromise, keeps the dark-edge specs of the default white one.
The red one is then basically the edge-color-inverted version but looks very similar with the above orange-yellow preview.

The reason I dropped orange out is seen here with the so-called 'sunlight version':
It doesn't give the same clear looks the black-white, yellow-red, red-yellow whatever (you need bright and dark colors to make a clear combination IMO).

Regards,
Hopachi
