Crash and video hardware error when playing games

I have a very serious issue with my brand new Lenovo IdeaPad Y500 GT 650M SLI system (specs at the bottom) . I can't play games at all because my system will lock up as soon as I enter the game, requiring a hard reset. My Windows Action Center is filled with Video Hardware Error reports. Is this because of a bad video card or is it a driver/software issue? I am on a clean install of Windows 8 Pro and have already tried the 314.22 WHQL and 320.00 BETA drivers. Nothing is overclocked.

Youre using the 314.22 now were you using the 314.07 previously? Ive read that a few people have had the same problem with the Idealpad and the 650 series graphics card. They resorted to the 310.90 drivers and said their problems are gone.. Wanna give that a shot?

I wish I could do that but 310.90 is missing SLI profiles for a lot of recent games such as BioShock Infinite. When Nvidia releases a new driver I will definitely update and see if that does anything. Still, a "video hardware error" is not encouraging; the last time I saw this was on a dying graphics card.
