Title says it all. Before I installed Hyper-V, Windows shows all 8 threads. . . After, only 1, and VMs were definately sluggish. Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it? This Windows 8 pre-release would otherwise be perfect for me as it's the only way I can have Hyper-V AND my internal mobile broadband card fully functional at the same time...

Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard, Joey :)

Actually I have never used hyper V ..... I use VMWare for my visualization needs . There is a settings menu by which I am able to fit the number of processors and number of cores per processor for the guest os . I guess hyper V also have such a setting .

Moreover, in VMWare, you are to install VMWare Tools to make the vm run flawlessly, and it makes mouse integration and network etc drivers workable in the guest . Is there such an option in Hyper V ? If so , do it .

Thanks!

I like hyper-v because it's bare metal (at least in server 08 it is), meaning it starts up your VMs seperately from the Host's OS, so if you lose power, when the host boots back up, so do your VMs. I virtualize Home Server 2011 running on my MediaCenter computer, so bare metal is extremely useful for me.

VMware workstation for example, has a ton more features, like direct I/O access to the VMs, so my Mobile Broadband card for example, I can point directly to a VM, it shows up in the VM like a normal mobile broadband card, then disapears on the Host. However, what I really like about Hyper-V that I won't talk about here as it'll be a waste of space is Dynamic Memory, and more awesomely, RemoteFX.

Can anyone running 7989 switch on Hyper-V and see if your number of cores went to 1 as well? I'm curious if its specifically my build that I have, or everyone is expiriencing this. . .

Thanks!
