Hello all,

I haven't posted here for some time.

I'm working on a very old machine that I built myself, it's been a really good box, had some issues but served me well. Just lately though Ive had some slowing down problems.

I'm a photographer and transfer my files through a Lexar usb 3 card reader. It usually flies, however just today it is as slow as mud and effects other operations on the computer like browsing internet (slow page loading), a very jittery mouse which has intermittent communication problems, freezes programs and cant shut down by normal procedure.

I have Windows 8.1 pro
i7 5820 cpu 3.3 ghz
16gb ram
64 bit.

I have tried the card reader on another machine and it flies like normal. I have drive checked the drive I'm writing the files to, and the C drive for errors but came up ok.

Hmm any suggestions on what this problem could be?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Jim

Hey, thats so great Bree. I ran scannow and its fixed some corrupted files. Is it a good idea to see what files it fixed? How do I access those files?

Thanks for your help, I'll have to see if its fixed my slow file transfer problem.
Cheers
Jim

When SFC runs it records its results in the CBS.log file, but so do lots of other processes. Option Three in the SFC tutorial tells you how to read just the SFC entries from the log file. That will tell you what was repaired. Don't touch any of the actual files that were replaced, we wouldn't wan to corrupt them again ;)
