Hello Brink. First of all, thank you for this very thorough and well documented list.

Now, I have a question:

Apart from the two search CLSIDs (that use the new modern interface)

Search Apps
{2559a1f8-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}
Search Files
{2559a1f0-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}

were you able to find the CLSID for "Search Settings" (equivalent for WIN + W keyboard shortcut)? I couldn't locate it in this list.

I tried to search for it manually in the registry, but had no luck. Also tried with RegShot Unicode (x64), but didn't get any useful info either.

It would be very helpful for me if I could find this CLSID as I want to integrate it as a button in a custom toolbar for Total Commander (I use it for 12+ years and it's miles ahead Windows File Explorer). Not that I'm so lazy and I couldn't press Win+W, but would be nice as a custom button too :)

Thanks!

Hello Yoshi, and welcome to Eight Forums.

I haven't found a GUID number for "Search Settings" yet either.

If you like, you could use the "Search Settings" shortcut in the new tutorial below for this.

Hope this helps, :)

Thank you very much for this. Yes, it helps me a lot, as I can assign anything I want in the Total Commander command box.

I believe that "Search Settings.exe" it's a AHK or AutoIt script that emulates (sends keystrokes) Win+W, correct? :)

It's a nice idea.

Hello Afarhath, and welcome to Eight Forums.

The correct target location to use for a shortcut of that is this below. It opens whatever desktop program you have installed and set as your default email client program. For example: Windows Live Mail or Outlook

explorer.exe shell:::{2559a1f5-21d7-11d4-bdaf-00c04f60b9f0}

Mustafa,

You can create shortcuts for these with these locations. :)

Flash Player Settings Manager = C:\Windows\SysWOW64\FlashPlayerApp.exe

Mail Setup - Outlook = explorer "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\MLCFG32.CPL"

The Office15 folder in this path will vary depending on what Office version you have installed, so you may need to change this for what you have instead. Office15 was for my Office 2013.

I can't find any CLSID numbers for these two items.

All I can find were for the shortcuts I posted above. You can change the icon of the shortcuts to any icon you like. You will not be able to use them to change the icon for these two items in the Control Panel though.

Hello ST3, and welcome to Eight Forums.

I'm sorry, but your link seems to no longer work.

I believe that Windows SideShow has been removed from Windows 8.1, thus the CLSID Key shortcut won't work. Can you confirm this? Thanks!

Hello qbunnie, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Thank you. Yep, it's removed in 8.1. I made a note in the tutorial for this. :)

Hello all,

Thanks for all these shortcuts Brink !

I'm looking to add a shortcut that open the Windows 2012 (not R2) Home screen.
Microsoft add the :winkey: Start button in Windows 8.1 and Windows 2012 R2 but not in Windows 2012, and I can't upgrade it :(

Do you have a solution for me ? :think:

THX
