Hellow Brink,

Thanks for your always very quick response and right on target answer.

The event viewer ponted the NIC. I reviewed configuration of the NIC and found under Poweer Management, "Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer" is not check-marked. I added the mark and the problem is resolved.

I wonder when this check mark needs be off. There may be situation where the computer needs be turned on by what other than Magic Packet but the computer lose ability to sleep.

Or, is there any other way to solve my problem though I do not see any problem arising from the way I did?

I'm glad that helped to find the culprit.

I would think that if you had "Allow this device to wake the computer" unchecked, then the "Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer" option would have no affect since it's grayed out like below.

I want to use the Magic Packet to turn on from any peer computer or from the Internet. This particular computer has just been built and the check mark was yet to be turned on. But I have never seen this problem before with any other computer with this turned off. I noticed that with this(Magic Packet) turned off the computer was turned on at certain instances depending on other computer's activity but not Magic Packet. But not right after manual sleep.

Click to SLEEP but comes W8 right back on
But not right after manual sleep.

Not related exactly, but the mouse or keyboard could revive a sleeper. (if you haven't already checked)
(Or advanced settings in power options)
If your problem is solved, oops, then please disregard. thanks.

Brink: Thanks as always.

mdmd: My problem was the computer awoke right after manual sleep. I needed to turn on Magic Packet anyway to use it, but wondered why the computer practically loses ability to sleep with Magic Packet turned off.

You had something from your network other than a magic packet waking the computer. By checking the box, only magic packets from the network are able to wake the computer.

Yes, I am aware that some other activity other than Magic Packet may eventually wake it up and I saw that happened. My point is why it happens right after manual sleep 100% of the times I try. This never happens before. The situation of other network devices are the same as before.

Not sure what it could be since all it had listed was the NIC as the wake source.

You could try unchecking the box and disconnecting or turning off all network devices, then testing to see if it will wake up after connecting each back one at a time to see one may be the culprit.
