Intro: Hello Eight Forums! Been lurking in this forum for a long time. I haven't made an account because when I found a thread it usually solves my problem right away which shows how great this community is! But now I think I have a specific problem I want resolved so I made an account to post this. So FIRST POST! (please be gentle)

Situation: I have a Lenovo Y410P laptop with an OEM preinstalled Windows 8 Single Language (64bit).

Two essential questions:
Is there any ISO I can find to do a clean installation of Windows 8.1 with Update 1 (64bit)?
Will I be able to activate it using OEM key integrated in the laptop?

Thank you in advance.

Hello again. So I tried Option One in the thread.
I chose English (United States), Windows 8.1 Single Language and 64-bit (x64). Clicked next.
Then ISO file and didn't change the file name. Clicked next.

It started the download process but after a few seconds said:
"Download did not complete successfully"
"The download task did not complete"
"The data is invalid"

What entry could I have possibly entered incorrectly?
I even downloaded the application again from Microsoft's site but it had the same error.

My thoughts.

When I installed win 10 preview I just downloaded the iso & extracted it to a folder & copied the contents to a usb drive{fat32} & clicked on the setup.exe it contained.

I didn't need a product key.

Can this method be used with 8.1 iso ? dunno-smiley-emoticon.gif

I just tried it (again) and it worked fine for me. I did exactly what Brink's tutorial, Option One, directed.

English-US
Windows 8.1 Single Language
64 bit.
Selected ISO

Where were you downloading to? I'd recommend somewhere on your local hard drive, not an external or USB.

what is your estimated download time? 30min?

and what do you have for hard drive free space?

I too have not had an issue downloading and creating media..

Firewall, Anti-virus, limited user, limited user file size, ??

You need 6-8 GB to create iso for download

My best guess would be that you actually have Core rather then single language?

-The error occurs even before the software can show an estimated time.
-I'm the admin (and the only) user.
-This implies a ridiculous allegation that I have less than 8 GB of storage left. Haha. But nope, I still have 720 GB free of my 890 GB system partition.

Success!(-ish) I tried disabling my antivirus (bitdefender free) and it doesn't show the error anymore but the download doesn't move either. Well at least it's something. The hold up is probably caused by my internet connection. I will try restarting the application again later while the antivirus software is disabled.
