Classic Shell for Windows 8

Just installed ver. 4.0.4. Now I don't have it listed in programs or a desktop shortcut. I have installed it 2 times.

Reinstall it & read all the options carefully.

If so, the new version overwrites it.

Did you notice where it was installed to ?

Maybe try Explorer to search for it. ?

Classic Shell has never installed a shortcut on the desktop. The shortcuts in the Programs start menu are controlled by a checkbox in the installer (checked by default). Maybe you unchecked it.

Please do not run the installer as admin. It will ask for credentials when it needs them.
Running as admin means that it will be unable to start the start menu as a normal user at the end.

If the installer fails because of some permissions, then as a last resort you may try running as admin. However you should log out soon after the installation to get things back to normal.

It is installed. Look at my pic. of installed programs. It's just not showing up in programs.

I really never remember a shortcut on the desktop. I don't remember unchecking a box during the install. When I do a reinstall, the checkbox is not there. I have installed every update since the first one, with no problems. If I did by mistake is there anyway to get it to show in programs? The program is installed. It's showing in add and remove programs.

How do you recreate the shortcuts?

You can create a folder named Classic Shell in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and then put the shortcuts inside.
For "Classic Explorer Settings" you need to create a shortcut to ClassicExplorerSettings.exe
For "Classic IE Settings" you need a shortcut to ClassicIE_32.exe
For "Classic Shell Help" the shortcut is to ClassicShell.chm
For "Classic Shell Update" the shortcut is to ClassicShellUpdate.exe
For "Classic Start Menu Settings" the shortcut is to ClassicStartMenu.exe with a parameter "-settings"
