In the last few weeks, Chinese authorities have conducted two raids on Microsoft offices and facilities across the country, as part of an investigation into alleged antitrust violations by the company. The exact nature of the probe remains somewhat ambiguous, although a recent report indicated that it concerned Microsoft's bundling of Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player with its Windows operating systems.

Well you know Microsoft, plenty of time to dabble in the dark arts with China instead of actually working on that operating system.

Am I the only one that thinks that the reason China is going all ape poop with Microsoft is because they want details of how they build Windows so they can make their crappy Chinese Linux distro?....

Yes :D

They are just pissed about XP. The majority of their population is using it (mostly counterfeit), and MS "abandoned" them. So, hey, we'll mess with you now...

crappy Chinese Linux distro?....
I respectfully beg to differ...

Either way with their own OS, counterfeiting will no longer be an issue...the real issue is political thus meh!

I would argue it has more to do with a control of capitalism as Microsoft represents that, over the last year I have read numerous articles on how the Chinese people have done demonstrations for more rights and a more free government. Major companies like Microsoft, Facebook, Twitter and Google represent what they want so IMO the Chinese government is just trying to create distrust in American companies by making it seem like they are out to get them.

I was reading an article this year some time ago on a website called OMG Ubuntu about some new Dell or Hp which was being sold with Ubuntu in china. A few people who posted in the comments section who claim to be from China say they buy them just to avoid the license fee so they can install counterfeit XP. Yes they are not legit copies of Windows however it must burn the Chinese government that people are not replacing Ubuntu with the official OS of China (Kylin Linux) and are using American home grown products.

I think where the Chinese screwed up when promoting Linux is creating there own instead of using one that originates from them already being built by the people like Linux Deepin.
