I am having trouble with my computer. A message pops up that Catalyst control center: host application has stopped working. And my PC will inform me when it is working. So I try to restart but it says that the host application is preventing the computer from restarting even though I know that it is not turned on. The problem is that it slows down my computer and even after I think I have solved it it goes back to not working. The problem has caused me to not being able to use the internet. Also on occasion, when attempting to restart or shut down it took longer than 10 hours (I did not wait for it to complete I then manually shut it down).
i have tried resetting it to a date where my computer functioned fine several times but it only solves the problem for a short period.
my specifications
Hp envy m6
windows 8.1
intel core i5
amd Radeon HD
my driver is a acpi x64

I suggest you find exact model of that "amd Radeon HD" And download last version of driver for that particular GPU. Download Drivers that uninstall old driver (it will offer it when starting driver installation) and install it.

Hi count mike,
this did not solve my issue completely.
although the message from catalyst control center has not appeared. However the problems of internet not working has continued. Now Microsoft word will stop responding every time I try to close it down.
