Solved Can't use "Mail" program that comes with the Start Menu

I normally use Windows Live Mail. No problems.

But there is a mail program that comes installed with the Win8 Start Menu. It's just called "Mail". Here I have a problem. It must be installed as the default mail program because when I go to some web sites and try to send email, this "Mail" program is activated. The problem that it comes up as just a white screen. No text, no entry fields, no nothing.

As I result, I cannot get access to the email address of the site I am trying to email.

Can someone help me resolve this problem? Either by making Live Mail the default mail program, or by figuring out how to properly access this "Mail" program.

It is up to you on which email program or web app you prefer.

I personally use Outlook 2013 x64 for my main email but I also use "Metro" Mail App as a quick way to see incoming mail.

One suggestion is to uninstall the Mail, Calendar, and People Suite then reinstall it from the store.

Make sure your mail accounts are added with the right settings.

There are still limits to the "Metro" app so I would prefer to use a desktop app so make Windows Live Mail your default app but it is not required to be your default. At any time you can switch if the other fails you or you feel like trying the other option again.

Max,

Thanks for your input. Unfortunately I can't seem to get anywhere with the suggestions. For example, I can't find the "Mail, Calendar, and People" program under uninstall.

I've tried to figure out how to set the mail default, but the procedure isn't working--can't find it.

Is there a simple direct way to set the mail defaults?

Thanks again for your help.

Mike

Thanks. This clarifies things. BTW, mine is one of those computers on which 8.1 does not seem to run. I notice that your references are to 8.1.

Yep. I upgraded to the Preview version of 8.1 and never really had a problem. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Did you get it uninstalled and installed again?
