Can't see 5GHZ wifi on laptop with windows 8.1

Have you assigned a name (SSID) to the 5Ghz band?

There are 2 networks currently visible.
SSID 1 : HOME-E9A6-2.4

SSID 2 : <=== nothing shows here.

I don't see the 5Ghz band with my Netgear WNDR3700v4 router either and I know I assigned a SSID to the 5Ghz band. Not on my 5 month old Lenovo K450 Desktop (has Ethernet and Wireless) or my 3 year old Dell 15R Laptop. Both have 802.11B/G/N support.

There is some magic involved in getting this to work but I don't know (yet) what it is.

This are correct settings for your adapter on Toshiba to see 5Ghz network signal.
Ztrucker is correct, there is no 5Ghz signal coming out of your router.

Which PC/laptop is the one that can see the 5Ghz signal?
Please switch to PC capable of seeing ( or one that sees ) 5Ghz signal and perform following on that PC:

press Windows key + X
select Command prompt (Admin)
type netsh wlan show all

copy and paste output here, and if possible use code tags ( the # icon while posting ) to format your output while pasting here.

Ok, one question.
If you switch to Toshiba laptop while connected and install it's Atherors driver without restarting, does the 5ghz network show up?
if not does the network show up then after restating?

Sorry, out of ideas, I pasted your thread title into google and there seem to be other people having same issue with Windows 8 and 5Ghz band.
so you might have a look if somebody figured out what could be the case, some registry hack or something.

 Really? Go figure. Guess I can't put 8 spark plugs in my 4 cylinder engine then. :)

Is supposed to be dual-band adapter from what I find. I don't think it is simultaneous though, maybe it is, if not can only use one band at a time. Has be something missing in settings for router or the adapter from what I can tell.
