Solved can't get usb-headset microphone to work on HP ENVY 700-30

Hi,

Can anybody help me with the following problem ?
I have a HP ENVY 700-301nd with Win 8.1 and a Sennheiser PC 333D G4me usb-headset connected to it.
The audio (music, games) sounds perfectly, but the microphone only seems to give crackling and very distorted noises.
When I plug the headset into my older Win 7 computer, the microphone sounds crystal clear, so it's not broken.
I've been busy for quite a few hours now, but whatever I do...I can't get the microphone to work on the HP ENVY it seems.

Installing the lastest drivers from HP and Sennheiser didn't solve the problem.


So does anybody has a clue what might cause this problem and how to fix it ?

What do you have listed for the Default Recording Device? Stereo Mix should be set as default Recording Device.

Stereo Mix (IDT HD Audio CODEC) is listed as Default Recording Device, but when I do that, there isn't any sound at all anymore...like Stereo Mix isn't picking up any sound.
On the microphone's vu-bar I can see that there is sometimes noise...even though the microphone is switched off on the headset.
When listening to it, it seemed to be a bit of distorted rumble.

I just checked that headset. It is USB but according to the site it has separate headphone and microphone connectors. If this is the model you have, then it IS using the PC sound card. If you are plugging into the front Microphone jack, try using the rear Pink microphone jack to see if makes any difference. (You can use the rear Green speaker jack for the headset portion while testing).

The headset has a small external soundcard that is connected using a USB port.
The external soundcard makes it possible to get 3D surround sound...wich is working like a charm.
On the external soundcard there are 2 jacks...1 green and 1 pink.
So that is how it should normally work

I tried disconnecting the pink connecter from the external soundcard, and connecting it directly into
the front and rear Microphone jack, but no matter wich one I try...the PC tells me there is no microphone connected.

Edit:
In the box was a short extension cord that I used.
However, I noticed that the guy in the youtube movie said that extension cords could give problems with the microphone.
So I removed the extension cord, and plugged it in directly into the usb-port on the PC.
And now I can actually hear myself talking when I check...
So I will do a few more tests to see how it works, and than report back.

Did run a few tests like Skype echo, and all seemed to work...or sound...perfectly now.
It only still amazes me that Sennheiser put an small extension cord in the box wich can give problems so it seems.

The extra adapter, that I saw had a 4 conductor adapter, that would be used on devices such as an iPhone, PS/4, etc and NOT for a PC.

As you can see it's a small external adapter/soundcard with only 1 green and 1 pink connector.
You plug it in on a usb port, install it's drivers, and thats about it.
