You don't need to purchase a new Windows disc. You can burn your own legally.

The getter option would be to use a windows install flash drive to access the advanced settings or recovery options.

Download this tool from Microsoft. It should allow you to easily create a Windows 8.1 install media.

You'll likely want to select English (United Kingdom), Windows 8.1, and 64-bit.

Good luck and let me know if you run into any problems.

Probably should have mentioned on the start up screen under the date/time there is a small icon( cable and monitor with exclamation mark in a yellow triangle ) were`nt sure if this was relevant.

First, try this and see if you can get the DVD to boot correctly: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorial...e-firmware-interface-install-windows-8-a.html

If not and you got the Welcome screen you didn't actually boot from the DVD. You really should pick up a 16GB or so flash drive and use Rufus to create a UEFI/GPT bootable flash drive. The DVD you made is probably not UEFI/GPT bootable which is why it didn't work.

Boot the flash drive then you can get to the repair tools.

Sorry glock183, I was away for awhile.

You burned a DVD from the tool I linked you right? After that you should be able to boot the DVD and get to the Windows setup prompt. There may be two boot options. [UEFI: DVD] and [DVD]. You'll probably want the one which says UEFI in your BIOS boot menu. If that options isn't there, choose the other.

At the setup prompt select your language, press next, and instead of clicking the center button, click the link in the bottom left corner "Repair your computer".

You will find that this is a lot easier when using a USB flash drive. I'd suggest going to your local electronics store and buying one. An 8GB or more will be plenty big enough. If you choose to buy one, try to avoid the brands PNY and Patriot. The Kingston brand is a very solid choice, so are SanDisk, and Lexar.
