When you actually download, the size can be different again. I see english one says 3.3GB but during download it says 3.5GB...

I usually use only the 32 bit versions, I noticed it was a lot smaller than my Windows 8 install disk which is a multi version installer, and that one is almost a full 8 GB. Also,. maybe that explains the differences with MS/Skydrive accounts I've seen - On all three of my 8 installs it said "use a Skydrive" account - On this Asus laptop I just worked on, it said Microsoft account. It's taken me months to check that, my windows 8 disks all say "Skydrive" when It asks me to set up the MS account. I've been batting my head as to why only mine says "Skydrive" for the Microsoft Account, and I know my install disks are legit. Does it say "Microsoft Account" in 8.1?

So , I started to run the manual patch using the command line to get the 8.1 update on the store to appear , only to read that it caused more problems than it solved , so stopped.

This morning , I see the preview is now available in the store , without any of the text corruption that the web sites warned of.

My question is....does anyone else in the UK who hasn't used any of the 'tricks' to get access see the preview? , I'm wondering if the command line patch I did is allowing me to see the preview , or if MS has released it for the UK clients.....

I'm loathe to download it from the app store incase it's the former and causes me lots of issues.

No idea.
I'm using a local account for the preview as well.

Hopachi - It should say in the PC settings under User Personalisation - Does it say "Use a Microsoft Account" or does it say "Use a Skydrive account"?

Because MY Windows 8's have all said "Use a Skydrive account" whereas the Windows 8 in this Asus laptop says "Microsoft" instead of Skydrive.

I think I just got a goofy install disk maybe.

Now i'm switched to local:
It says "switch to Microsoft account" but you must have been using a Skydrive from the first time since that's another option. I don't think it's a goofy disk but if you plan on switching to local, see what the "switch" will tell you or if the MS account is optional.

Even if you use Microsoft account, the cloud service will use Skydrive because that's where you save your files. :)

I made a new MS account and this time it SAID MS Account. It must have been some fluke, cos when I originally installed 8 it asked me to log in to Skydrive. It doesn't say that anymore. I had a big discussion with Brink about it, he was right the whole time. Do parts of Windows 8 which connect out depend on content that is being sent back to the OS from MS? That may be what was happening.
