Can't cleanup backup update files.

They do not show in Disk cleanup at all and there must be several GB of them. Since everything is working good, without any problems related to updates I figured I should delete some parasitic files from the system. If nothing at least system/disk backup file will be smaller.

Disk Cleanup does not work with downloaded updates. You need to manually delete everything under:
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

NOTE: Do not delete while Windows Updates is running.

Looked at it, there's almost nothing there ( few KB only). In Windows Update > Installed updates all of them are still possible to uninstall so files must still be somewhere.

- 'delete shadow copies'

Yes, I did and there's not much in there anyway. Those I clean up fairly regularly. Task Scheduler > StartComponentCleanup doesn't do anything, just said "completed successfully (0x0) " and not a byte less on the disk.

I got many more things there but there's no Update files cleanup, is it maybe under some other option ?

No such thing on this one either but there is "Update package backup files" which doesn't seem to be same thing.

I ran Disk Cleanup (System Files) a bit ago including Windows Update Cleanup, it gave me back about 1.5GB; just ran it again and no Windows Update Cleanup entry, so maybe there's nothing to clean up on your system.

Good point. Maybe you should wait a while and run Disk Cleanup again.

That's what I was thinking but I get options to Uninstall all the updates since the beginning. In the Task manager that cleaning option was disabled anyway so it shouldn't have done it automatically.

That's the kicker, it doesn't. I know it should first place I looked at.
I also run "cleanmgr /sageset:50" to get more options, there was no 50 options anyway.

They had the $NTUinstall remover in CrapCleaner for XP.
