BTW have you tried running WDT on the new install... it may have got stuck due to the corruption previously.

Just tried it again. WDT latest version works perfectly.

You may not have done anything to help me in particular, but you created some very helpful tools that have me an idea of what I had to do to fix my problem. If it hadn't been for your tools I would've delayed in calling Dell support for at least a day or two.

How to view Windows 8/8.1 OEM product key from UEFI firmware (BIOS).

Open the command prompt and type (or copy and paste) the following command.

WMIC Path SoftwareLicensingService Get OA3xOriginalProductKey

By this way, I found the product key, but whenever I decide to add features to Windows 8.1 from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Update, it shows a message: This key won't work. Check it and try again, or try a different key.

Yes it worked! It brought up the OEM key. Every other key finder gave me a wrong one but that worked perfectly. Thanks a million for that. Thanks to everyone else who replied as well.

Where did you buy the PC? The OEM key should be in the chip, may need to contact the seller.

Please make sure you use ShowKeyPlus... it's fully compatible with all versions Win 7 through Win10.

The old version (Showkey.vbs 1.3) won't recognize Win 8 keys (it's Win 8.1 specific)

Awesome! It worked like a charm!
I had the same problem. I actually downgraded my laptop from Win 10 to Win 8.1 cuz it was lagging a lot (I have a low RAM). So i made a clean install of Win 8.1 (torrent downloaded) but couldn't fix the key problem.
