Does the wifi adapter show up in Device Manager and show working? You have a physical switch to turn it on/off? Could be the switch.

Try uninstalling then re-installing the adapter.

Check, if you have WiFi enabled in BIOS. Keep pressing F1 or F2 when restarting.
Check (approximately): Config - Network - Wireless LAN and WiMAX - ON
Check also: Security - I/O Port Access - Wireless LAN - Enabled
You can also try to restore your BIOS settings to default.

I've noticed that in my case WiFi settings located in different part of the system and "in" hardware switch do not cooperate every time. E.g. when I'm trying to disable WiFi using hardware switch, it doesn't work but I'm able to do via Network Connections in the Control Panel. I find this place most reliable so, if you haven't do so yet, try enabling / disabling your WiFi there.
