Hi Brink,

I just downloaded Unlocker, but my Malwarebytes program found a threat. I've attached a screen shot to prove it, You will notice today's date. Can you explain this?

It's a false positive since it's not digitally signed. Unlocker is 100% safe.

It looks like you didn't see them during installing Unlocker to unselect PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). This is unfortunately common for free programs to package to include installing other items with it if you don't deselect them.

I had a file I couldn't delete. Kept getting a error about it not existing in the directory. Tried every trick I could find with Google. I could see it in Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 but I couldn't delete or rename it. I finally found this program DelinvFile - Utility for Deleting Invalid Files and Folders It deleted the file without any problem. It's a paid program but you can use it for a trial period if they haven't changed it.

Still no luck. Tried 7Zip, but still would not let me delete. I tried mapping the folder to my network drive, and when I went to delete, it still said "the file name is to long for the destination folder".

I cannot rename the folder or file, there's simply no option there. I cannot open the file, it says file name to long. I cannot delete the file or folder, it says file name is to long.

What a stubborn little bugger this one is. Any further thoughts?

Cheers

rob

kenrob2037,

just read through your posts, i do not think you did map the network drive at all..i think you don't know how.. because if you did, it absolutely would not say "can't delete"..

so just incase you really don't know, did you go through this way?

i am SURE you did NOT do this as it does work.

you probably didnt share the folder and then put in the network path - do you know how to do that? if not, ask and I will show you.

EDIT- in the 3rd and final picture here, you put the "Network Path" shown in the 1st picture.. do you understand? then it will open the folder after you hit ok... and you can delete or change name..

-don't tell me it doesn't work because that is how they programmed it. there is no other way.

come back here and post that it's resolved.

try "UNLOCKER" as suggested 4 days ago by Brink. I sense a reluctance to do so?
Failing that try Malwarebytes "File-Assassin"
