Hi,

I have Windows 8.1 and I am currently having trouble changing my desktop background. It used to work perfectly, but now it's set on one specific image (one of my own images) and I can't change it, nor can I change any of the background settings or set a default image or anything.

I haven't been able to find any good advice via google because I can only find about 3-4 sites that address this issues for Windows 8, so any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello Tom, and welcome to Eight Forums.

For now, double check using the tutorial below to make sure that a desktop background hasn't been specified for all users preventing it from being changed.

If that's not the issue, then please go ahead and post some screenshots showing what you are seeing instead to see if it may help to ID what it may be. :)

Hi Brink, thank you very much.

That tutorial you provided fixed the issue! Thank you. May I ask how that could have happened? Because it was working okay for the first few months.

You're most welcome.

That's a group policy setting, so if you didn't set it, then it may have been from one of those all-one utility type programs if you have one installed.
