Solved Cannot boot UEFI install

Wanted to try the UEFI so I deleted my legacy BIOS/MBR installation of Win 8.

I followed the steps here:

Got Win 8 to install successfully in in the UEFI/GPT way.
But after restart on installation done, the PC cannot boot into Win 8 and I always get the light blue screen with a "Recovery" title stating that the PC couldn't be started properly and an error code 0xc00000001.

Played with the BIOS setting (CSM, Secure Boot etc), switched to onboard graphics, reinstalled a few times the UEFI way.
Also tried the automatic repair but to no avail.
The UEFI installation is always successful but I always cannot boot to Windows.
What different is that the installer always partition the drive to 4 partitions (Recovery, ESP, MSR, OS) instead of 3 in the tutorial.

After hours of trying to get it to boot UEFI Windows 8, I gave up and went back to install via legacy BIOS/MBR.
And here I am posting this in Windows 8 (legacy BIOS/MBR).

If possible I would like to get UEFI working, are there any small details I missed?
I'm using the ASUS P8H77-M Pro motherboard with the latest BIOS.

I've tried Automatic Repair but not consecutive 3 times.
Maybe I'll try that.

Maybe I'll try installing without the graphics card, sound card and my 2 other HDD.
Go to the bare minimum.

Kind of sucks when I bought a new PC just to try out Windows 8.
Hope this repeated installation won't kill my new SSD

Anymore suggestions before I clean up this installation and try to UEFI again?

Always best install with the bare minimum.

What are you using to install. The .iso made with the upgrade download is not UEFI capable. A flash drive works fine, however.

But when you reboot, what options do you show for a boot device? If there is a Windows Boot Manger, pick that, not the hard drive.

The Windows 8 always says to remove the flash drive before the first reboot, are you getting that message?

What bios are you running on the board? My P8Z77 was just updated.

I can install the UEFI version fine, just had booting problem.

OK, it boots after reinstall with with the bare minimum.

Connected the HDD and boot problem again.
This time it stucked at "preparing automatic repair".
On research it seems like uefi doesn't boot proper when the second HDD has logical/extended partitions.
One of my HDD has it, the other one with just primary partition boot OK when added.

So currently I'm getting rid of the extended partition on the other hdd.

Hope adding the graphics and audio card later will go smoothly.

Success!
Took quite some time, luckily there's enough HDD around otherwise data will be sacrificed.

In the end the problem lies with the HDD from the old PC.
So for people who are going to use their old data HDD in their UEFI Win 8 build, make sure that there are no logical/extended partitions in it.
(How about adding this point to the tutorial?)

The same situation will occur with an external drive, if plugged in during boot.
