Solved Cannot access files on another network computer

There are two computers on the network.
Computer 1 shows both computers and can access the other computer's files.
The computer 2 does not show computer 1 on the network and cannot access the files on computer 1 even though it is online.
Have tried disabling the firewalls but this does not help.
Any ideas on how to solve this ?

Are they both windows 8.1? You need to make sure everything is turned on :

file sharing, network discovery.. and such..

There is stuff like this that is left to try..

Though you can keep "mapping the drive" but still something is blocking it from showing..

just some more thoughts..

I would read through this.. it's pretty much what we were doing but there is probably a few more we didn't do..

Yes this seems to have solved the problem (typing services.msc and working through the list) .Thank you very much and also thank you for your help yesterday going through this using Teamviewer. I'm sure it would have been quicker if my computer had been in English and not Japanese !
