Can We Put A Windows 8 Progress Bar on This Forum?, i think this would be a good way to keep track the development of Windows 8.
In order to have a progress bar wouldn't you have to know where it starts and ends

umm yeah, but we can have like windows 7 rtm on the bottom and predict the milestones such as m1, m2, m3, beta, pre-rc, rc, pre-rtm, rtm, ga.

I think this is actually a really cool idea. And it will be a lot of fun. John could put it right under The Eight Forums name, and it would look cool if it fit the theme.
Have it start with 7 RTM, and end with 8 RTM. We can predict dates (I did this on Seven forums)

I think it's a great idea - I don't think i've seen that kind of thing on any other Windows sites. It would make the site more unique and individual, and give it a nice touch.

Could backfire and have a negative effect though. Might make viewing guests not want to sign up, and just look at the progress bar and wait till it gets close to the first leak. Affect user sign up in other words. Not to mention it probably wouldn't be too accurate, just based on speculation.
