Hi

The Start Button does not do much, or so it seems to me.

There is no Start/Programs, no Start/Control Panel, etc.

For example, to get to Windows Update I have to revert to the Metro desktop
then type Windows Update in the search box etc.

Is there a configuration option I have missed?

Cheers

Daniel

Hello Daniel,

You could right click on the Start button for the Power User Tasks menu for more options.
You could also customize the Power User Tasks menu.

If you like, here's a shortcut that opens directly to Windows Update.
Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

You haven't missed anything. MS have decided you should be using the metro stuff. Or the X menu to control panel, then find what you are after. It is not very efficient.

You may have to install Classic Shell or Stardock Start 8 to get those features back. We are talking about Windows 8.1 right? Google those, and see how they are implemented in Windows 8.1. They MAY increase the scope of the existing Start Button. But within Windows 8, without any modifications, you cannot do much with the new StartFart Button.

Thanks mate, I'll give it a go, I am sure it will be oaky.

Either way, I can work with it.

I am just enjoying myself really, having a go at things and seeing how far I can get.

Appreciate your help.
