Can I Still Upgrade?

I have a machine running Vista. It was running Windows 8 or 8.1 but I had to reformat due to the kids. Now it seems impossible to be able to upgrade it back to 8.1. I purchased 8 online and have the code sent to me via E-mail. Can I still upgrade or am I out of luck?

If you have the Windwos 8 ISO and the install key then you can install it any time you want.
You can also Clean Install Windows 10 directly without installing Windows 8 first.
