Solved Can I delete all these extra Network Adapters?

Hello

Before i begin some things i'd like to note;

• I don't do file or printer sharing etc
• IPv6 has always been disabled on my wireless adapter, I felt no need for it and never had any issues (please correct me if I'm wrong).

As you can see from the image below I have multiple network adapters.

The 2 Realtek adapters are my Ethernet & Wireless adapters so those are fine, but what on earth are all the other ones? I'm pretty worried so can anyone feel me in.

Update

From the image below you can see they show up under ipconfig too, I don't want them on my computer so how do i go about removing them?


Note: LAN 2 & 4 are related to the microsoft virtual adapter we saw in the photo above. (no clue what that is/does).

The white boxes were just a precaution. I'm not very good with computers so it might be pointless, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I also went to network connections in control panel and it only shows my Ethernet and my wireless adapter, nothing else shows so I'm not sure why all these adapters are showing up on device manager.

Those are IPv6 Virtual adapters that are "Hidden". They are added when IPv6 is enabled on any network connection. Removing them, can cause issues when trying to connect to websites that only use IPv6.

So you're saying all of those adapters are for IPv6?

I was under the impression the virtual adapter was something entirely different. I also am dubious about he ISATAP #2, 3, 4, and 5 adapters (why are there so many?).

I really don't like having unecessary adapters on my laptop so would appreciate as much info as possible on them.

You can delete all but 2 Realtek adapters. If you are unsure, you can disable them at first.
But before deleting them, make sure, that IPv6 is disabled (unchecked) on both Realtek adapters.
Virtual adapters are related to software like Virtual PC, if you were testing some OS, like Windows 10?

Actually the ones in question are added when IPv6 is active for the adapter. If they disabled or uninstall the IPv6 virtual adapters, it can keep him from going to websites that use only IPv6.

They all have to stat.

No need for any worry, it's as it should be.

There are 3 'ghost' instances of Microsoft ISATAP #3,#4,#5 but no worries best just left. You will just find other such instances in your Hidden Devices. Don't pointlessly mess around.
