Thanks for your unhelpful reply. This might actually give the impression to other board members that my query is being looked at when it is not.

Please refrain from adding to a thread unless you have anything useful to add.

OK, it was caused by a kernel dump and a system scan showed it may have been a windows update problem KB3000850

KB3000850 has been installed without issue on my laptop.

The update has known issues with Avast! 2014 and 2015 dlls. This system has been cleared of the old dlls with Aswclear.exe and the file versions have been checked.

KB3000850 was uninstalled correctly after not installing correctly in the first instance. It installed correctly two days ago.

I have recently updated nVidia drivers from 344.65 to 344.75 after clean installing back to 344.65 when I got some performance issues. The performance issues have disappeared but this is the first BSOD since all programs were updated.

Do you still need help with this problem?

Seems crazy but I can make the machine crash if I drop the mouse onto the keyboard. If I don't do that, it doesn't crash! Changed the mouse, uninstalled the MS mouse software. Also removed the IAStor drivers, still the same. No crash unless I drop the mouse on the keyboard, then I have to reset the PSU switch or it just reboots.

My suggestion is that you don't drop the mouse on the keyboard! (just kidding!)
Have you tried another keyboard? Have you tried dropping the mouse on other things (be careful you don't break it!)?
Have you tried another mouse?

Out of the 4 memory dumps that were uploaded, there were 3 different BSOD error codes. I suspect that there may be a hardware problem here. To start, try another keyboard and mouse.
Beyond that, here's my canned speech on this topic:
Out of 4 memory dumps there were 3 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case. Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

Please get a head start on the hardware diagnostics - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

VBoxAswDrv.sys - this driver hasn't been added to the DRT as of this run. Please search Google/Bing for the driver if additional information is needed.

Thanks for that. The not dropping the mouse on the keyboard IS working!

I am on the third mouse so I'm pretty sure it's not that :)

SSPORT.SYS is a Samsung Universal Print Driver I'm using and it's fine. It's on my laptop.
AFC.SYS is a remnant of ArcSoft software I used to use when editing video from my Hauppauge HD-PVR which I have since sold. I should be able to remove it.
VBoxAswDrv.sys is a component of Avast! Anti-Virus which has recently been added. I had an issue with the Script-scanner driver recently, so I will remove the component.

Not overclocking.
No BIOS updates (already running latest v5.8 and was for some time before problems occurred).
Machine is very clean, no dust bunnies.
I run Malwarebytes tools regularly including anti-rootkit, fairly sure Malware free :)

Will post back.

Update: Deleted the AFC.SYS and associated registry keys from HKLM|System|CurrentControlSet|Services
Have reconfigured Avast! not to use the NG component, unloading VBoxAswDrv.sys
Tried dropping the mouse on the keyboard a few times, couldn't provoke it!
