BSOD error 0x0000009f caused by ntoskrnl.exe

My first BSOD occured on my 1-month-old ASUS GL551JM laptop while I was opening the Task Manager. It was running on battery while I was playing Don't Starve Together on Steam. I closed Don't Starve Together and plugged in the charger. 5 minutes later, I noticed the computer being a little laggy while browsing the web. I wanted to open the Task Manager to see what was being so slow and that's when the BSOD occured.

I've played Don't Starve Together many times, but this has never happened before. I typically put my computer into sleep mode instead of turning it off. Perhaps this contributed to the problem, but I had not recently woken up the computer.

I ran BlueScreenView and it said DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE caused by ntoskrnl.exe. Online searches gave me a great range of answers that gave me more questions, so I updated my Intel and NVidia drivers but that's about it.

This is also my workstation for graphic and animation work, so I would like to prevent BSODs as much as possible.

I run Windows 8.1 64-bit.

Help would be greatly appreciated! Going to sleep right after posting so I'll check in approximately 9 hrs.
