BSOD: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE after opening the lid

Hello good people of the forum!

A super quick disclaimer: I'm not too tech savy, so if any further details are needed to troubleshoot, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I have been experiencing a BSOD which only occurs when my computer is exiting sleep/ hibernate mode. This only occurs when my computer has been sleeping for a while (i.e. coming home after work), however if my computer has already been booted and I close down the lid to immediately open it again, no error occurs.

BlueScreenView shows the error to be: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (Bug check code: 0x0000009f). I have attempted to locate the issue, however as I have not experienced an issue like this before, I would now greatly appreciate some help :)

On a possible side note (not sure if it's relevant for this issue): my Malwarebytes has been picking up PUP's when scanning (example: "PUP.Optional.Babylon.A"). Some googling seems to indicate that the "virus" (I understand it's not really a virus) is affecting my browser (I have had very slow internet occasionally, as slow as down to 0.67 Mbit/s when I pay for 40). Just wanted to include this, as I have attempted to remove them but they keep reappearing and I am unsure if could be affecting the driver.

Once again, if any further details are needed please do not hesitate to let me know!

Thank you for your time and effort!View attachment 63774View attachment 64043

The driver which is causing the problem is the "Remote USB NDIS Driver" and is a part of the Operating System. There is a really low chance that this might be at fault because if that would have been the case, we would have been seeing a lot of such cases.

I see that the Samsung USB Modem is installed (As in installed with the Phone Software). Are you using that? Have you tried removing that software and then using the system?

The DRIVER_POWERSTATE_FAILURE are the older dump files and I have not analysed them.

Please do not worry even if you are not very tech savvy, that's why we are here for :0)

Pranav

Thank you so much for your reply, Pranav!

I have read through your message and I regretfully have to admit that I have no idea how to use the information ^^' I did try disabling the Samsung USB Modem in the Device Manager, however I shortly received a BSOD (still DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE) after this (not sure if I did it right). As I am unsure exactly how to go by this, I don't suppose you by any chance could tell me what I will need to do? I will of course be happy to upload any logs or details necessary.

Not sure if it's relevant, however I did notice that my computer started having issues when booting from complete shut down state - it will "click" 16 times, indicating an error message and then not boot at all. I did manage to gain access by restarting it twice, however I don't think this is good for the hardware, so I'm going to keep it to a minimum unless necessary :D

I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, however I greatly appreciate your help and I will be looking forward to your reply with anticipation :D

Once again, thank you so much for your time!

Hi Akarnia ^_^,

Please feel free to ask about anything which you don't understand. We don't have any problem in explaining it in detail to you :)

The ZIP file uploaded by you shows that the last dump file which was generated was on 12th July which is strange. Are you still experiencing the crashes?

Just in case, see if your problem is solved by turning off Fast Boot by following the below guide -
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/6320-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-8-a.html

In case the above trick does not work, I would suggest you to turn on Driver Verifier according to the below guide -
Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers - Windows 7 Help Forums

The guide is for Windows 7 but it is almost similar for Windows 8 as well. In case of any kind of doubt at any step, please stop me and ask since this is an advanced procedure. Before turning Driver Verifier on, I would suggest you to read the entire guide once and then proceed :)

Let me know how it goes ^_^
