Solved BSOD - "DPC Watchdog error" while watching videos.

Hi

I get the BSOD - "DPC Watchdog error" while watching videos. I suppose it's a display issue?

I'm not finding a lot of info online Re this error but I have been getting it a lot recently. I have even rolled back my nvidia driver to see if that helps but to no avail?

I have attached the *.dmp files. Would REALLY appreciate any help as I don't want to uninstall Windows 8.

Perhaps related: Coming out of sleep mode I also get a lot of image refresh problems (closed apps stay visible, animation ghosting).

Thanks

Hello and welcome.

Immediately, I apologize for singling this statement out, but I feel that it is necessary for the community in general. This, under any and all circumstance, is not the way to go about solving anything. So with that being said, re-install the latest driver.

Then, download and run the special tool to remove AVG, in safe mode. You're having tcpip.sys errors and this will fix that right up.

When done, boot to normal mode and set Windows Defender and Windows Firewall services to Auto and start them too.

Enjoy.

Hey

Thanks a lot... seems to have done the trick. Can you recommend a free alternative to AVG? What about Avast?

Or is Windows Defender actually sufficient, as some are saying?

You have all you need and that is my strong recommendation. Windows Defender on 8 = MSE on 7 and below.

You're welcome.
