I recently purchased the IOGEAR Bluetooth 4.0 USB Micro Adaptor so I could talk on Skype with my Bluetooth Headset.

After installing the software from IOGEAR web site I found that it did not work on my windows 7 Ultimate system. It just plane does not do anything. I read the reviews from Amazon.com I found that many people where getting mixed results for how it works from great, to it does not work at all, to the installation added a bunch of unwanted programs that can’t be deleted. I went to BROADCOM website the company that makes the chip and they are supposed to have a clean install for it but I get the same results.

I have recently upgraded to windows 8 and it detected that I have Bluetooth software and it asked me to uninstall it before upgrading.

I am now looking for Bluetooth Software for Windows 8 that will make my USB Micro adapter work. IOGEAR and BROADCOM don’t have it. I have tried just putting the adapter in and the computer says it is installing software but after nothing happens.

I have even been looking on the net for a Bluetooth USB Adaptor that will work with windows 8 and can’t find any.

Please help

I was hoping someone could suggest a Bluetooth USB Adaptor that will work with
windows 8. Seeing that I can’t get the one I just bought to work.

Hi there
I bought an "Unbranded" cheapo mini usb Bluetooth adapter -- worked first time --didn't even need Windows 8 disk or windows update. Worked immediately -- could tell by the small flashing blue led on the device. I

I use it for paring a Logitech mini boombox as an audio device to my desktop PC -- works a treat so I suspect your adapter isn't compatible.

Often the "cheap unbranded" versions work much better than more expensive models.

(I'm running on W8 Enterprise x-64).

My IOGEAR GBU321 works fine with Windows 8 with no drivers installed at all. Just plugged it in and 8 recognized it automatically. I only use it for my Plantronics bluetooth headset. It paired up fine and works with Skype or Google talk. Sometimes I'll have to unplug the GBU321 and replug it to get it to recognize my headset if I've gone out of range for a while, but that is my only issue at the moment.

I have a Belkin Mini Bluetooth adapter which works with W8. Much better than the even cheaper mini adapters which I have found on ebay.

The Belkin adapter uses a Broadcom chipset.

Much better than the built in adapter for my 2year old Dell Vostro laptop for which I have yet to find drivers that work.

If I was to get a BELKIN and it uses a Broadcom chipset, won’t it have the same software driving it? When I install the software for my IOGEAR it goes through the steps and then I click done and then I just loose the installation. There is no Icon on my desktop. It’s not in programs. I search for it in files. And under Computer Uninstall or change programs and I don’t see it anywhere. When I unplug and plug the adaptor back in it makes the sound that the USB usually dose but nothing else happens. When I try to reinstall the software from Broadcom it tells me that my software is up to date.

I don’t know what to do next

I went to control panel then to devices and found the adaptor. I right click on
the icon and then I click on Bluetooth settings. Under Options tab, Discovery, the
Allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer box was not checked. I checked
the box and my blue led light on the adaptor is now working. Under Hardware
tab, Devices it shows: “Broadcom BCM20702 Bluetooth 4.0 USB Device”. Then I
click properties and the Device status says: “this device is working properly.

I again right click on the adaptor Icon then I select Network settings, then
Change adaptor settings and it tells me: “Bluetooth Network Connection not connected”
I click on that and I get: "add Bluetooth device". When I try to add a device and
press the pair button on my head set it just says: “No device Found”

I still can’t pair my head set with the adaptor.

Whether the IOGEAR uses the same drivers depends on what chipset it is using.

Typically I would expect a bluetooth adapter to flash a blue light when it is on, and to have a small icon visible when you select the up arrow on the right end of the desktop taskbar. (Notifications)

WOW! WOW! machare, YOU DID IT!

I just found the small icon on the task bar and clicked add device and hit the pair button on my headset.

IT WORKS PERFECTLY!

Thank you EVERYONE for your help!
