Blue Screen of Death Lives On in Windows 8

windows_8_bsod.jpg

Good news for the haters, when Microsoft said it reimagined Windows, it also reimagined what the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) should look like, which means Windows 8 isn't immune to crashing. If you think about it, it's kind of comforting in a way. After all, what would Windows be without a BSoD revealing what went wrong? You could answer "Linux," or even "Mac OS X" if you're trying to start a flame war, but we won't go there.

As much as we all hate getting a BSoD, they're actually pretty helpful if you know how to decipher them. They're also a little intimidating, despite the use of the color blue, which studies show have a relaxing effect on people. It appears Microsoft wants them to be even less frightening in Windows 8.

Pretty helpful? Like a blood clot in the lungs?

Regardless of the psychology used...... A BSOD remains just that... an inconvenient glitch!

I gotta agree this kind of warm fuzzy crap should be left up to OS X cultists over at Apple.

A BSOD is just that no amount of soothing effects can change that. It should have at least SOME basic troubleshooting info included on that page.

If nothing else at least let us customize the BSOD so that we can get creative LOL.

I'm thinking Maybe " The Price is Right" LOSER theme with that little audio clip that used to be used when a contestant lost...

Luckily ( not so ) I haven't seen BSOD in Win 8 and even in Win7, I don't even remember when was the last time.

Although, I've heard about a few BSOD on Virtual enviroments. I use normal dual boot, along with Win7 as default OS.

Indeed.

My only experience with BSOD was a multitude of them during XP usage from the very first day of release until the last day when I switched over to Vista when it first released. Never gotten a BSOD in Vista, Windows 7 or currently Windows 8.
