Just had my first black screen of death.
Windows 8.1 64bit
intel quad Q8200
Nvidia geforce gts 250 (running at 66 deg Celsius which is a bit on the high side I guess)
223gig SSD
Computer has been running all day. The temperature here is not high but I see the card may be a little high. I was working and the screen turned black without a mouse pointer. I have been running windows 8.1 for a while so it isnt a new update. The BlackSOD seems to occur rarely if google is to believed. I updated the nvidia drivers about 2 weeks ago so that seems an unlikely culprit. About 6 months ago I got the new SSD put in and plus a bigger new fan for the cooling. Seems to be running fine (fan). There have been no major changes to the computer of late.
I haven't been able to do a system restore with 8.1 because I keep getting an error that a file cant be over written. I probably can if I destroy my restore points. The system will not restore even with the virus protection (avast) off.
Like I said I didn't find much on the web so I am hoping someone here has some ideas.
